What is electronic governance

The Internet is very helpful. It has proved to be a boon for good governance. Many government departments have been connected to computers and the internet in many states of India. Andhra Pradesh is a better example of such in India. In this state, with the help of the internet, people can get their work done from Panchayat level to Chief Minister's Office. The Internet has also greatly reduced problems such as long queues and bribing clerks and other employees.

The Internet has made normal civilian life very easy in banks, schools, colleges, universities, passport offices, administrative offices. In India, the National Informatics Center has developed a number of government sites that connect the Prime Minister and the President's offices to the common man.

E-governance has helped in bringing such services at the doorsteps of the people. It is also called G-to-C i.e. Government to Citizen. E-governance or government for citizens has become popular in many countries of the world.

FirstGov of US, ENVOY of UK (e ENVOY) E-TAIWAN of Taiwan, E-citizen of Singapore (E-CITIZEN of Singapore), e-Korea (E-KOREA), e -Government Online of Malaysia (E-MALAYSIA) and Canada is popular and rewarding.

Such projects are also working in India. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has started eSewa to provide better services to the people of the state. The objective of this project is to prevent people from wandering from one office to another to get work done by providing all possible facilities under one roof. Using e-service, people can pay their water, electricity and telephone bills without any hassle. Apart from this, birth certificates, death certificates, and educational certificates can be obtained online.

This service started in 1991 and this e-service is providing 150 services through 200 centers. According to an estimate, more than five crore people are getting benefited from this every month. E-service is also helpful in depositing property tax, income tax etc.

Through this application for a passport can be made. Train and plane tickets can be secured. Tickets can be purchased from cinema halls. E-governance is doing very well in India in Kerala and Karnataka.

 E-governance covers the following activities:

Meetings

Video conferencing facilities are available with the help of the internet. This facility can be used to organize conferences, seminars, and meetings. People can participate in an event by sitting from different corners of the world through this facility.

Correspondence

The Internet is used as a powerful tool for communication. Any order, circular, notice can be sent from the head office to all its branches immediately and its reply can also be found immediately. The office also uses the Internet to send its reports. It is easier and safer.

Registration and Admission

Government and non-government offices now publish their registration and admission forms on their sites. Students can register themselves by visiting that particular site and also get their admission done. They can do their registration and pay the state fee through credit card or net banking. Alternatively, after your online registration, you can send the Demand Draft of the desired amount to the office.
