We interact with people in our society, discuss with them on various topics and do correspondence in the traditional way. This is the most common phenomenon in any society. Do we follow certain codes of conduct while engaging in the above mentioned incidents? 


Of course, then when we take care of the code of conduct with the people of the same region, with the people of the same culture, then on the internet where we have different countries, different races, different religions, different cultures, different civilizations and people with different mindsets. We need more code of conduct when we interact with, correspond with and discuss with them. 


We call these codes of conduct netiquette or net etiquette. Following these we join the list of decent net users.

1. Don't use flaming language

2. Check the sarcasm 


When you talk to a person face-to-face, your body language and facial expressions make your sentences and words very clear. Quite unlike this, when you are talking on the net or sending an e-mail, you are expressing your thoughts with the help of text and graphics. So it is important to keep in mind that if your purpose is sarcastic then to make it very clear, you can use smileys.


3. Do not misinterpret your identification


mislead your other net friends by giving your false identity. It is unethical as well as illegal. Yes you can put your surname if you want. This will also not expose your identity completely and will not give you an opportunity to misrepresent your identity.


4. Don't use mean messages


that have no meaning or have no standard. It is better to send a message than to send a petty message.


5. Keep in mind that your online partner is a person not a computer 


Keep in mind that your counterpart is not a computer but someone who has his own sentiments, that is, the kind of messages you transmit must be completely new.


6. Use capital letters very rarely

7. Check errors before sending

8. Learn the rules and abide by them


Especially newsgroups, mailing lists, different chat rooms and different channels have certain rules. You can get these rules at the time of joining. After knowing this, you can continue with your work without any hindrance. Failure to comply with this may result in expulsion from the discussion.


8. Do not infringe over copyrights  


Never send material to a polling list or newsgroup whose copyright is owned by others. To do so a is unethical in way and at the same time a very big crime. Before doing so, you must its author or publisher take permission in writing from.
