1. Report with Syntax
A report with syntax is a type of report that contains both text and graphics. You can create reports with syntax using any of the following methods:
- Use the Text Box property to add text to the report.
- Add images to the report using the Image property.
- Create charts using the Chart property.
- Create tables using the Table property.
- Create graphs using the Graph property.
- Create pie charts using the Pie Chart property.
- Create bar charts using the Bar Chart property.
- Insert rows and columns using the Row and Column properties.
- Create a table using the Table property. (This method creates a table without any formatting.)
- Create a chart using the Chart property. (This method does not allow you to specify the size of the chart area.)
- Create a graph using the Graph property. (This method requires you to specify the number of data series.)
- Create a pie chart using the Pie Chart property and then use the Pie Series property to specify the percentage values for each slice.
2. Report with syntax is a type of report that uses a query language to retrieve data from a database. A report with syntax is similar to a stored procedure in SQL Server.
3. Syntax refers to the way the query is written. There are two types of syntax: procedural and declarative. Procedural syntax is used for queries that return results based on the values specified in the WHERE clause. Declarative syntax is used for queries where the result set is not dependent on any value specified in the WHERE clause, such as SELECT * FROM table.
4. In FoxPro, you can use either procedural or declarative syntax. You can also mix both types of syntax together in a single query.
