1. Desktop Computer
A desktop computer is a personal computer designed to sit on top of a desk. Most desktop computers have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and some sort of storage device (hard drive). A desktop computer is often connected to a network via Ethernet cable.
2. Laptop Computer
A laptop computer is a portable computer that weighs less than 10 pounds and has a display screen that folds back over the keyboard. Laptops run on batteries and connect to networks using wireless technology.
3. Tablet Computer
A tablet computer is a small mobile computing device that connects to a network wirelessly. It runs on a touch-screen interface and comes equipped with a stylus. Tablets are commonly used for reading ebooks and viewing videos.
4. Smartphone
A smartphone is a pocket-sized mobile phone that combines many features of both a cellular telephone and a handheld personal digital assistant. Smartphones are capable of making calls, sending text messages, taking pictures, playing music, and accessing the Internet.
5. Netbook Computer
A netbook computer is a subcategory of notebook computer that was originally intended for use primarily online. These lightweight computers were first introduced in 2005 and are now popular among consumers who want a cheap yet powerful alternative to traditional laptops.
6. Personal Digital Assistant
A personal digital assistant (PDA) is a hand held electronic organizer that provides information management capabilities. PDAs are similar to smartphones and tablets, but they lack the capability to make phone calls. PDA's are generally smaller than smartphones and tablets.
7. Server
A server is a computer system that stores data and programs for access by users at remote locations. Servers are used in businesses, schools, libraries, and government agencies.
