Both the platform and the operating system may also have different versions. 

Difference Between Internet and Intranet

5. Internet is a platform independent client/server computing network located inside a private internet network. It can also be understood as private internet. It uses the tools and services used in Internet services but its use is very private.

6. Internet can also have web site FTP server and special interactive client/server applications like internet but it has less speed and at the same time it is not very secure and it any special platform does not require.
